The Modern banned list has been shaken up in a huge way. Eldrazi are out, and Thopters are in! . . . Or at least that is what most people are saying. I think the more things change, the more they stay the same, and no deck is as good as Jund. Jund is a great strategy that has been good throughout the shifts in the banned list. I have literally played Jund in every Modern event that I have entered for the past three years. It has earned me Top 8s on the Grand Prix and Star City Games circuits. The deck is great, and I can show you what it is all about.

This spread of games shows some of the strengths and weaknesses of Jund. Every matchup is different, and you want to be flexible, reevaluate things as they come up. Jund is a deck that rewards experience, focus, and knowing when to switch roles between beatdown and control. Despite all my practice, even I make mistakes while trying to talk you through things! If you like this deck, it is extremely rewarding, and you can make small adjustments to beat any metagame. In a world of Thopter Foundry, I have to imagine Thoughtseize, Abrupt Decay, and Kolaghan's Command are where you want to be. I will probably revisit this deck next week, but after that, I get to show you what I have been working on in Standard—and then we really get to beat down!
