This week, I finally am able to dive into Standard with Shadows over Innistrad. As I write this article, the Pro Tour is about to happen, and while it will unveil some great decks, I have a real gem for you right here. I played this deck at the Baltimore Open and the Star City Games Invitational, and I will probably be bringing it to Grand Prix Toronto next weekend. It is a Selesnya Aggro deck that is smooth as butter and packs a punch. Deathmist Raptor when paired with Dromoka's Command is an unanswerable threat and card-advantage engine. Collected Company and the good curve means this deck won't easily be run over, and the mana sinks mean you never run out of gas.

This deck is super-solid, and I believe it has what it takes to be a major contender in the new Standard environment. Most of my losses are because of missed land drops, which is usually the sign of a good deck. Until I lose more frequently for other reasons, I can't really justify any changes. I had been playing Archangel Avacyn, but I honestly think it is a trap. You could play Evolving Wilds over Tranquil Expanse, to boost Tireless Tracker, and you could play Declaration in Stone in your sideboard, but I honestly like the deck as it is. Things at the Pro Tour may shake up my perspective, so next week, I may have some sweet new updates. Or I might try out a Bant Company deck with Deathmist Raptor! Either way, you can count on me to have something sweet and sharing my thought process on how to navigate this new format.
GL HF, friends!
