Steve Rubin won Pro Tour Shadows over Innistrad with a super-sweet Selesnya Tokens deck. The deck is phenomenal and extremely well put together. It is a tight list, and if you haven't been following Rubin before, now is a good time to do so. The deck is able to dual-wield the aggro and combo roles by curving out with creatures and Planeswalkers and doing something devastating with Archangel Avacyn, Westvale Abbey, or Secure the Wastes. The deck is very complicated with some surprising interactions. If Westvale Abbey is your sixth land but you transform it, expect your Sylvan Advocates to grow and then shrink. If you cast Tragic Arrogance and leave your opponent with a Tireless Tracker, that Tracker might become huge. If you and your opponent both have an Archangel Avacyn, each combat step becomes a labyrinth of possibilities. Ever want to ultimate Nissa, Voice of Zendikar on the regular? This list is no walk in the park, but if you are good at resource management and mapping out the consequences of many options, this skill tester could be for you.

I will be playing this deck with some very minor updates in Grand Prix Toronto. While I am excited to be playing such a great deck, I am worried it will have a target on its head and that, despite preparing all week, I may still make mistakes. The deck is very complicated with multiple lines to possible victory at any given moment. There are so many different resources to manage, it makes your head foggy very quickly. Steve Rubin made some critical mistakes on his way to winning the Pro Tour, and I hope the strength of the deck can carry me through as it did for him. I only have the following changes to suggest, but word through the grapevine is that these are the changes Rubin would suggest. If you are picking this deck up, I strongly urge that you play this deck as is before you start tweaking it. I thought certain cards were bad, but as I played more, I found myself using them more effectively and realizing that they were critical cogs in the machine. Play this deck, but don't make changes—it is not what it seems at face value.
