Kaladesh has just been released, but I have to wait a little longer before it hits MTGO, so I thought I would catch you up, dear reader, on Modern. Modern is a format which usually doesn't change much. People typically pick a deck and play it to death for years before a banning shakes things up. I am a perfect example of this, I have literally entered every event with Jund for the past few years, getting Top 8s in GPs and Opens alike. But, if you follow the SCG Tour, you will notice a new breed of Dredge decks and I actually lost to one in the hands of Ross Merriam in the Top 8 of SCG Syracuse. Ross beat me so bad that I thought, heck, if you can't beat 'em — join 'em. I am playing a slightly more tuned and interactive list compared to Ross, and I think this is the version I want to be on because it is really consistent and has a bit more reach.

We had some funky games, but the deck did not disappoint. The fact that I can have up to 9 power which is also resilient to removal had me feeling great. I have been a hard core Jund player my entire career. I have tested and even invested in other decks but when it was show time, I always played Jund. Dark Bob and the Tarmo-gym are still great, but this Dredge deck just runs people over, especially if they aren't packing a lot of hate. It might not be the best deck to play every week, but it is a great one to throw in the mix and might even get me to deviate from my predictable pattern. Also to note, my team — Card Hoarder — killed it in SCG Indianapolis this past weekend. We had thirteen out of thirteen into Day 2. Three members were in the Top 8 and eight of us cashed. I cashed, but if I could do it all over again, the following is what I wished I played.
