Grand Prix 2010 Schedule Out Soon

Reddit

Update (11/5): Wizards has released the 2010 GP schedule. We have launched our Premier event schedule.

Players are eagerly awaiting the Grand Prix schedule for 2010 as it represents their biggest chance to attend a premier level event in their area. After speaking with Scott Larabie, we expect the schedule out this week or next week at the latest. We also believe that the schedule next year will have more Grand Prix events than we've ever had before, probably around 30 events (2009 had 20 events, 2008 had 21 events and 2007 had 16 events)

Here are some interesting Grand Prix facts:

  • Most attended Grand Prix: GP Paris in 2008 with 1,838 players.
  • Least attended Grand Prix: Melbourne Australia holds the two lowest attendance records. In 1997-98 season it had 140 players, and in 2004-05 it again had just 140 players.
  • Most GP Wins: Kai Budde has 7 Grand Prix victories
  • Most GP Top 8s: Olivier Ruel has 26 Top 8s
  • City with most GPs: Tied at 6, Singapore and Taipei. Both are viable hosting spots outside Japan and draw a decent sized crowd from all of across Asia.
  • Most Scheduled GP Format: Limited with 136 GP Events.
  • Least Scheduled GP Formats: Team Standard and Two-Headed Giant Limited with just 2 events each.
  • There has never been a Vintage Grand Prix.

Correction: We had initially reported that Olivier Ruel's 5 GP Wins was the most, this is not correct as Kai Budde has 7 victories.
