Innistrad Brings Changes to Store Events

Reddit

Today on Wizards.com, they announced some coming changes to store events for Innistrad's pre-release and release. You can see the original announcement on the WPN section of the site, by clicking here.

Pre-Release Changes

The main note here is that stores are being given more "main" events and they are removing side events at the store pre-releases. Core level stores will receive two "main" events while Advanced level stores will receive four "main" events. Main events can be Sealed, Two-Headed Giant or Draft. And their scheduling is flexible up to the store so long as they still take place on Saturday and Sunday of the pre-release weekend.

This means that stores will no longer be able to run side drafts during pre-release weekends, but will in exchange be given more main events to compensate for the loss of drafts.

For example, if you want to run a Booster Draft on Saturday morning at 12:01 AM, you can. You can run another event, like Sealed Deck, at a more reasonable time, such as 10 AM on Saturday or on Sunday. It’s completely up to you, and you should run your events however they’ll work best for your store and community. During the Prerelease Weekend, if you have not sanctioned your full allotment of events, you will be able to sanction additional events, up to your limit (2 or 4), through Wizards Event Reporter.

Innistrad League and Launch Party

As part of the packages stores can get for each set is a new League kit which will provide supplies and prizes for two six-week leagues. It's intended that these two leagues will run the calendar through to the next set after Innistrad (as of yet unannounced.)

The Innistrad League is a new program which will encourage customers to come to your store to find other people to play league matches with. The suggested format for the league is Sealed Deck, which will keep things exciting for your players, and the league will last for six weeks. Your league kit will feature enough materials to run two six-week leagues, and that will cover the time until the next Magic set which will arrive in February.
