If you haven't watched the video, you're doing yourself a disservice because it was an absolutely unbelievable three game set.
Control is actually a very sneaky choice for Standard at the moment, with the counterspells being excellent against all the decks trying to go big with 5-7 mana spells, and all the removal coming in clutch against the heavy creature decks trying to get under those decks. Furthermore, you also get to play Fable of the Mirror-Breaker, which is the clear best card in the format.
