Izzet Wizards has long been one of the go-to aggressive strategies in Historic.
The combination of powerful creatures that scale up very well, excellent removal that also can double as reach, and superb card draw from cantrips and Expressive Iteration makes for a cheap and well-rounded deck that plays out very well.
However, the deck is about to get a huge shot in the arm from The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-Earth!

The ring tempts you!
While they are slightly worse on rate, Birthday Escape and Ranger's Firebrand are both very close to Consider and Play with Fire, cards that are usually played in Izzet Wizards. However, while they both trade instant speed and slight upside, what they gain is access to The Ring emblem, which is a powerful way to push Dreadhorde Arcanist through blockers as well as loot away lands and deal some extra damage. Considering you're often playing your spells on your turn for prowess anyway, the sorcery speed isn't much of a drawback and the upside is huge.
The other new addition is the absolutely phenomenal Flame of Anor. Even without a wizard Flame of Anor is a reasonable enough card that's very flexible, but once you add a wizard into the mix you're getting an unbelievable about of value for only three mana at instant speed.
These are some excellent upgrades to an already awesome deck, and also not a bad budget option as far as Historic goes!
