When Standard gets really big, the fear is that new sets won't be a large enough percentage of the format to make a big impact. There are just too many cards to overcome, so the new cards will mostly just be an afterthought or a few little upgrades here or there.

The number of new cards in this deck is quite remarkable!
This brew, built by Ashlizzle and played to an astounding 25-0 record by her when she was first working on it, is one of the sweetest and most unique Standard decks I've seen in a long time.
Looking more like a Pioneer Ensoul Artifact deck than a Standard deck, it combines the already mentioned cards from The Lost Caverns of Ixalan with the excellent but underutilized artifact cards from the various other legal sets. Gems like Teething Wurmlet and Disruption Protocol are on full display, joined together in a deck that presents a super-fast clock while also having the interaction needed to beat the format's big haymakers like Sunfall and Atraxa, Grand Unifier.
Standard is often criticized for being a "midrange soup" format devoid of synergy decks, which makes this deck a breath of fresh air!
