Now that the Avacyn Restored prerelease has happened, let’s put it through its paces.
Challenge
Win the game as quickly as possible using only cards from Avacyn Restored. Bonus points for doing it without casting a card for its miracle cost.
Assumptions
You have perfect luck. For example, even after you shuffle your library, it’s ordered how you want. You may not assume anything about your opponent’s hand or library except that he won’t do anything relevant. If he must make a decision (e.g. for Vexing Devil), you must be able to win no matter which decision he makes.
Winning “quickly” refers to both the turn of the game and whether you’re playing or drawing first. Turn three on the draw is quicker than turn four on the play but not as quick as turn three on the play.

Solution to Last Week’s Puzzle
Last week’s puzzle was solved for turn one on the play. The first solution was by Rast:
Play | Mana | Cards in Hand |
7 | ||
Lotus Petal ×2, sacrifice | 5
Chromatic Sphere ×2 | 3 | |
Lion's Eye Diamond ×3 | 0 | |
Sacrifice all three Diamonds | 0
Sacrifice both Chromatic Spheres | 2
Lightning Greaves | 1 | |
Temporal Aperture | 0 | |
Activate Temporal Aperture, casting Blightsteel Colossus | 0
Equip Lightning Greaves and attack | 0 |
Mark Dijkstra submitted the solution that I thought was the cleanest:
Play | Mana | Cards in Hand |
7 | ||
Lotus Petal ×4, sacrifice | 3
Goblin Charbelcher | 2 | |
Lion's Eye Diamond | 1 | |
Activate Charbelcher, revealing a deck with no lands | 0 |
Finally, Jesse Lieberfeld was the first to submit a turn-one, on-the-play solution that didn’t use Lion's Eye Diamond:
Play | Mana | Cards in Hand |
7 | ||
Lotus Petal ×3, sacrifice | 4
Semblance Anvil, exiling Myr Superion | 2
Ichor Wellspring | 2 | |
Grim Monolith, tap | 1 | |
Krark-Clan Ironworks | 0
Sacrifice Ichor Wellspring | 1
Ichor Wellspring, sacrifice | 2
Ichor Wellspring, sacrifice | 3
Myr Retriever ×2 | 1 | |
Blasting Station | 0 |
From here, we can sacrifice Myr Retrievers to Blasting Station over and over, each one retrieving the other to deal infinite damage.
