Daniel Scheid Conquers Grand Prix Los Angeles

Reddit

After two days and 1700 foes, Daniel Scheid and his Red-Green Monsters emerged victorious at Grand Prix Los Angeles. On his road to the winner's circle Scheid had to dispatch two Abzan Midrange decks only to face off against Dennis Ulanov's Rabble Red in the finals. In the final game, two Stormbreath Dragons and a Crater's Claws cemented the victory for the hometown hero.

One week after Pro Tour Khans of Tarkir and Standard continues to take shape. Below are the decks that went undefeated on day one of the tournament.

Carlos Falcis did not drop a match on Day One and his Abzan Midrange deck helped carry him to the Top 8.

Issac Sears and Tamada Ryoichi made it to the Top 8 after going undefeated on day one. Ryoichi went to the penultimate round of the Swiss before finally dropping a match (to the eventual champion, no less).

Hall of Famer Brian Kibler piloted Temur to a perfect Day One record and a Top 16 finish.

Peter Ingram was the final player to go without a match loss on day one at the helm of Abzan Midrange.
