This week kicked off the previews for the latest Magic: The Gathering expansion of Tarkir: Dragonstorm. A return to the fan favorite world of Tarkir, this set is bringing wedge colored cards back to the forefront with lots of powerful dragons as well. This provides players with the experiences of both versions of Tarkir from the original block - Khans of Tarkir and Dragons of Tarkir - all in one awesome set.

Make sure to check out my full writeup on this first week of previews that also went live today. If any of these awesome new cards strike your fancy, make sure you check out the CoolStuffInc.com page for Tarkir: Dragonstorm and preorder all the cool new cards today.

A Slew of Secret Lair Announcements

A new surprise pair of Secret Lairs were announced, this time for the Chaos Vault! Caught between the latest batch of Superdrop Secret Lairs being previewed and going on sale this upcoming Monday (March 24th), these two lairs focus on a unique competitive angle. This time it's cats vs. dogs, with both lairs being titled "Cats Are Better Than Dogs" and "Dogs Are Better Than Cats." Each lair features the same five cards in foil for $39.99 with the promise that whichever animal sells better, there will be a full superdrop released for it in 2026. Within a day, Wizards announced the winner was officially cats!

Additionally, multiple other lairs were revealed that will be going on sale this Monday along with the SpongeBob Squarepants lairs revealed last week. Tragic Romance features four cards centered around Kaalia of the Vast and featuring a dragon, an angel, and a demon with dark romance imagery. Another is Secret Lair High: Class of '87, a lair featuring cards like Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait and Chulane, Teller of Tales as goofy looking 80's kids taking bad high school photos. Garden Buds features several cards with plant-based art like Horn of Greed and Ashaya, Soul of the Wild.

Last but not least is the Twisted Toons lair. As of the time of writing, only two cards have been revealed for this lair: Fatal Push and Young Wolf. Both depict throwbacks to classic cartoons from the early-to-mid 1900s, offering something for those looking for a touch of whimsy in their cards.

Be sure to check out all of these special Secret Lairs now over at the MTG Secret Lair store page.

Decklist of the Week

The second Spotlight Series event is in the book with Spotlight Series Utrecht wrapping this past weekend. Raul Porojan - who claimed to have not played Modern in forever prior to a week ago - won it all on the back of Orzhov Blink, beating out Alberto Manchado on Temur Breach in the finals. Despite this lack of recent experience, Raul piloted the deck masterfully throughout the weekend to take home the trophy and 12 boxes each of Modern Horizons 2 and Modern Horizons 3. This event caps off the final major Modern event prior to the March 31st Banned and Restricted update where it's expected that something will be banned from the Temur Breach list. Congratulations Raul!
