MTGO Infinite Project, now defunct, posted a new blog entry earlier today which reported that Wizards of the Coast had held a press conference in which they announced the arrest of the purported source of the New Phyrexia Godbook leak. The post named "B-boy" aka John Smith, as the arrested individual and went on with other details which fooled some readers into believing it was a true post.
The blog, and the post, are now gone, but it survives in the Google cache here, or in this screen cap below. Please note that the domain dci.com is a domain wholly unrelated to Magic and the address should not be emailed.
The blog circulated very quickly through Twitter and Facebook as some individuals were taken in by its posting. Let this be a cautionary tale to not take everything you read online as fact.
During the 19th April, Wizards of the Coast suffered a massive leak of information. A GodBook containing the full spoiler for New Phyrexia was leaked into MtgSalvation. Wizards officials have been trying to get the leak contained but a PDF containing the spoiler was also leaked in the internet, spreading from an Internet Relay Chat server (IRC), SolidIrc, connected with Magic-League. Andy Heckt, who's leading this investigation didn't want to comment but he held a press conference reffering a group of individuals from the IRC server as the main causa for this leak. B-boy aka John Smith was arrested this morning thanks to the investigation and collaboration of Sebas (A mexican player involved in the scandal). As of this moment WoTC is trying to get a court order to retrieve some information from Magic-League, especially IP adresses of Darkblade , jfc and waIfty. People who may provide information about this people can do so through investigations@dci.com.
