Non-Legendary One-Mana Artifacts You're Definitely Sleeping On

Reddit

It is so easy in now a day to get lost in the powerful legendary artifacts like Shadow Spear and The Ozolith. But what are some Non-Legendary Artifacts that you may be sleeping on? Lucky for you here is a list of a few of those aforementioned artifacts! From interaction to free information, these effects can be found in places you least expect it! Now let us dive in, shall we?

Stopping Graveyard Shenanigans with Soul-Guide Lantern

Soul-Guide Lantern

What do you do when someone plays a graveyard deck but you are not in the colors to stop them. You play Soul-Guide Lantern! When this card Enters-The-Battlefield it can exile one card from ANY Graveyard (Yes this includes your own, if you have something you don't want to come back with a mass reanimate). But here is the best part; for exactly ZERO mana you can tap and sacrifice the lantern to exile EACH OPPONENT'S Graveyard in response to them doing anything tricksy. And if no one is playing a graveyard deck, what do you do then? You pay 1, tap and sacrifice it to draw a card. Simple as that!

Obtaining Perfect Information with Glasses of Urza

Glasses of Urza

How often do you wish you could play Telepathy but are not in Blue, or Revelation but are not in Green? Well now you can, in any deck! Glasses of Urza lets you tap to look at any one players hand; and you don't even have to pay man to do it! Clean, Simple, and to the point. The best part is, this information is only revealed to you. No one else gets to know!

Relieving Commander Tax with Campfire

Campfire

Is your Commander tax getting too high? Did your Commander die and you let it go to the graveyard hoping to reanimate it, but that plan was thwarted by the pesky Blue player? Is your life total getting too low? Well, pull up a seat next to the Campfire! For 1 and tapping it, you can gain a simple 2 life, and since chip damage is a very real thing in Commander, this helps you mitigate some of that. For 2 and a Tap and Exile you can get your Commanders back from not only your command zone but also your graveyard into your hand. But wait there's more! When you do this, you also shuffle your graveyard into your deck! That could be used to save your graveyard from something like Soul-Guide Lantern, or to end the game with a certain Uncommon Legend in Black (Syr Konrad, the Grim).

Repeatable Reanimation with Vat of Rebirth

Vat of Rebirth

What's better than reanimation? How about repeatable reanimation. With Vat of Rebirth, every time a creature you control dies or an artifact is put into your graveyard you put an oil counter on it. Then for 2b and tap you can reanimate any one creature from your graveyard. Now this does say only as a sorcery but that shouldn't stop you. Reanimate is a sorcery, so why not have it on a permanent that doesn't lose you life. Can you think of any decks that want to abuse this lonely little uncommon?

Locking Down Problem Permanents with Immovable Rod

Immovable Rod

Sometimes removal ISN'T the answer because the dead creature can just come back. Sometimes we need to get creative with how we deal with pesky permanents (yes, I said permanents, not just creatures). In comes the Immoveable Rod to save the day! There is a lot of text on this card for what you pay for it, and you definitely get more than you pay for. Untapping it is optional during your untap step, and when it becomes untapped you venture into the dungeon. For 3w you can tap this to remove all abilities from ANY PERMANENT as well as make it unable to attack or block. So, your worries about those pesky permanents with value static abilities are now a thing of the past.

The Original Explorer's Scope

Explorer's Scope

So back before Explore was a thing we had... Explorer's Scope! Which is an equipment that lets the equipped creature "kind of" explore and ramp at the same time! When the equipped creature attacks, you can look at (not reveal) the top card of your library. If it's a land, it doesn't go into your hand; It goes right into play tapped! Sure, there are other effects that are like this or strictly better, but those are in specific colors. This one is colorless!

Take to the Skies With Zephyr Boots

Zephyr Boots

When is the last time Flyers DIDN'T Win games? Air superiority is a very real thing, so why not lace up your Zephyr Boots, and get to soaring. These shoes are sure to help you get in for not only damage by granting flying to the equipped creature, but also letting you Loot on combat damage (Draw a card and discard a card).

Test Your Might with the Strength-Testing Hammer

Strength-Testing Hammer

Step right up and test your might with the Strength-Testing Hammer! Think you have what it takes to be the biggest creature on the board? If you are, you get to draw a card! This equipment says when the equipped creature attacks, roll a six-sided die and add the result to its power, then if it's the biggest creature in pay, draw a card! This is a great include in decks that like to have big stompy bodies.

Trickster's Talisman Has You Seeing Double

Trickster's Talisman

Don't overlook this small piece of equipment or you might be seeing double! With Trickster's Talisman its simple. It gives +1/+1 AND when this creature deals combat damage to a player you can sacrifice the talisman and make a copy of the creature, and it's not even until the end of turn Permanently. What kind of sneaky evasive creatures would you want two of? Or better yet, value creatures?

Taking Control with Swashbuckler's Whip

Swashbuckler's Whip

Aye this be the last one, but it not be the least. Swashbuckler's Whip is a snap keep when you see that it can give the equipped creature the ability to tap a creature or artifact for a simple 2 and tap, OR you can do 8 and tap for a new keyword Discover! You can Discover 10, which early game may seem a little intense, but late game? Seems like a great mana sink!!

Be sure not to overlook these simple yet powerful artifacts. Where would you slide these in? How would you abuse them!
