Wizards of the Coast's latest Twitter account, @Wizards_Magic, which we reported on earlier. This account was launched earlier on Friday, Jan. 15, 2011. Within 10 hours of it taking the attention of the Magic twittersphere, it gained over 2,000 twitter followers. While still trailing the much more popular @DailyMTG (8,666 as of this article) and @MaRo254 (6,910) but at this rate it won't take long to catch up.
Wizards' PR sent out this statement about the new twitter account:
I know what you’re thinking—what about @dailymtg and the other great Magic channels I’ve been following? Well, don’t worry—they’re still around. We just wanted to give you an official news and announcement channel without cluttering up all the great mechanics, deck-building and R&D discussions on the other channels.
To celebrate the launch of @wizards_magic, later today we’ll be tweeting a preview card from Mirrodin Besieged. And be sure to keep following us to get a look at even more surprises coming your way.
