Legacy is a big format, and it contains a lot of decks that walk an interesting line between playing fair and unfair. As creatures get better and better, the midrangey creature decks that have a combo finish start becoming more interesting. Buy This Deck

The key to this deck is that it’s just a reasonable Sultai midrange deck. Baleful Strix and Shardless Agent are just great cards in the format, and combining them with Cavern Harpy is a completely reasonable way to grind opposing midrange decks out of the game — or just buy yourself time until you can resolve an Aluren.

The way that this deck combos off is a little different than previous iterations of the Aluren deck. Before, decks would lean on Imperial Recruiter, Dream Stalker, and Cavern Harpy to find the key pieces — namely Parasitic Strix. Then you can pay a life to pick up Cavern Harpy, replay it for free to bounce Parasitic Strix, and recast it to drain your opponent for two. Infinite life loss!

The difference here is that this deck doesn’t have Imperial Recruiter to find all the pieces. Instead, you have to rely on re-buying a combination of Shardless Agent, Baleful Strix, and Glint-Nest Crane in conjunction with Cavern Harpy to cycle through your deck until you find Parasitic Strix to end the game.
