Reprints to Pick Up from One Piece TCG Premium Booster

Reddit

As of November 8th 2024, Bandai released the first Reprint set for the One Piece Trading Card Game to the Western front named Premium Booster - One Piece Card The Best. This product contained some highlight cards from throughout OPTCG's History, as the name of this product would rightfully lead us to believe.

We've seen other trading card games such as Magic: The Gathering produce products like this which have lead to very positive results within the community. Magic: The Gathering started with a line of "Remastered" series like Ravnica Remastered and the upcoming Innistrad Remastered to come out in January 2025. However there are only a few different types of printings one can receive from the Premium Booster set. It could be a regular printing of an older card such as Otama or Sanji's Pilaf. You could even pull what's called a "Jolly Roger" foil in the form of Charlotte Smoothie or Baby 5. You could even pull a borderless art card from Premium Booster, not to be confused with Parallel Art cards. There are cards that were given Parallel Art forms that didn't previously have them, and some with new Parallel Art. For example, Charlotte Smoothie, who previously didn't have a Parallel Art, was given a Parallel Art in Premium Booster.

Some other noteworthy inclusions of cards that were given Parallel Arts are Bartolomeo and Red Roc.

Other cards such as Edward Newgate and Vinsmoke Reiju were given new Parallel Arts to obtain in case the original Art or the initial Parallel didn't quite suit your fancy.

With all these exciting new options to bling out your favorite One Piece deck, I would like to take this opportunity to go over what cards you should pick up before the reprint pressure wears off on these singles.

For today, we will not be giving a breakdown of each Character that is given within this segment. Since this is solely intended to go over cards that have held a high position within the game over time and with their reprints we will go over their respective presence within the game. There is no ranking system, these are simply cards I heavily recommend picking up.

I would like to start off with a Yellow Character who once made the price of a yellow deck unfathomable, Charlotte Katakuri.

Charlotte Katakuri is currently sitting at a price range of $11 to $15 dollars. This might seem fairly steep for a character with such a high cost, but back in January of 2024 this character held an average price of about $80. Due to other printings of powerful yellow cards with a lower cost, Katakuri has seen less play but that doesn't make this yellow behemoth any less of a threat. Katakuri also isn't leader locked to Big Mom Pirates, meaning he is very versatile. Katakuri has recently seen play within Enel decks on the competitive level. Even if you aren't inclined to play any form of Yellow leader, I heavily recommend getting your hands on Katakuri as trade fodder for your local yellow player.

Moving on to another 8-cost menace, who almost never misses the board on turn four, it's Gecko Moria.

There's no debate that Gecko Moria is a staple within any Black deck, and while he has never held as high of a price tag as the previously mentioned Charlotte Katakuri, back in February of 2024 he stuck to a price in the high $30's for a while. This reprint has brought his regular printing down to a price range of $3 to $6. If you are even considering playing any Black leader, pick this character up as soon as possible. The same goes for if you need trade fodder, but this character is better used in a deck seeing that he won't be traded off for much at this time. Katakuri is still sticking to double digits, whereas Gecko Moria is susceptible to single digit prices.

You might notice a pattern here but... yes, I do have another 8-cost Character up ahead in the form of Eustass "Captain" Kid.

This captain is one of the few cards from Romance Dawn that still sees play to this day. Eustass "Captain" Kid with 8000 power and the ability to prevent your opponent from attacking your leader without going through the 8000 power body is beyond noteworthy. This character alone can be the difference between a losing game and winning game. Eustass see's play in sets of 2 to 4 in Bonney decks and makes an excellent addition to a leader like Corazone if you feel like hitting your opponent out of left field. No one expects Corazone. Reprints have this captain down to a price range of $2 to $3 for his original printing. If you are considering some characters to help your top end, consider this center piece.

Speaking of Characters who are useful for preventing damage, let's shift some of our gears and move toward the cog in the machine, Borsalino.

When Borsalino was released, the OPTCG community had not seen a blocker who could not be K.O.'d by effects, making him unbearable to maneuver around. On your opponent's turn Borsalino goes from a 5000 power blocker to a 6000 power blocker... you may not think 1000 power makes a difference, but that little buff is huge. Borsalino has seen tons of play in multiple Black decks, whether it be Smoker leader or even Lucci leader. That being said, Borsalino currently sits between $2 to $3 dollars on average where back in August he sat around $13 to $17 dollars a pop.

Stepping away from the Navy for a moment, let's turn the tide toward another well known Pirate... one most refer to as White beard, but for now we will refer to him the same as the card does as "Edward Newgate".

Admittedly, Edward Newgate has not seen a lot of competitive play. However, with Edward Newgate leader being reprinted as a precon leader and a few Marco leaders still about, this is one character to pick up from Premium Booster. Red decks may mostly consist of low to the ground quick and aggressive strategies, but do not let the 9-cost on this character deter you from playing him. The character removal on attack, the buff to your leader On Play, and the 10000 power of Edward Newgate is worth considering. He also saw high prices back in July and August but the release of Premium Booster has dropped his price to a $1 to $3.

Now, our final addition to our long list of cards to pick up after their Premium Booster listings... Yet another Admiral within the Navy ranks, Kuzan.

Kuzan is seeing play in both Smoker and Lucci decks at this time, and much like Borsalino, is very versatile with every Black leader. Turn two, drop Kuzan, draw a card, 5000 power, then on attack reduce character cost by 4. A valuable character within your own deck. Kuzan saw prices in the double digits in July and August of 2024 and is now down to $2 to $4.

I heavily recommend you, fellow seafarer, pick up these cards before the Premium booster reprints wear off as they are very useful within their own respective realms. But for now, what are your thoughts? Are there other cards you would've added to this list? Don't wait too long!

Until the seas part us, fellow seafarers!
