Cube For Charity 2024 Wraps

Year six of #Cube4Charity was a smashing success!

My team did absolutely incredible, and I even won a few ?s too!

We raised over $40,000 for two amazing charities and I'm super proud and thankful of both everyone involved and who watched and donated.

Every year around the holidays, Magic Online hosts the latest iteration of the Vintage Cube to serve as a warm end-of-year celebration. In the spirit of goodwill, several content creators come together to raise money for charity while participating in one Cube draft or another. This year saw Team CoolStuffInc (Jim Davis, d00mwake, Arya Karamchandani, Reid Duke) and Cardhoarder (Caleb Durward, aspiringspike, Gabriel Nassif, and Skyler Pascal) duking it out. Team CoolStuffInc won the day with 29 total trophies to Team Cardhoarder's 22.

In total, Team Cardhoarder raised $22,848.53 to benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, partially in the memory of beloved Cube aficionado Jonathan Brostoff who passed away suddenly in October 2024. Team CoolStuffInc additionally raised $18,910.90 for The Trevor Project. A fun event provided aid to two fantastic causes for the year. Congratulations to both teams for putting on such a great event!

Following the banning of Violent Outburst nearly one year ago, Cascade Rhinos decks took quite a tumble in the Modern format. That only got worse after the release of Modern Horizons 3 further shifted the format and while Rhinos never really went away, it stopped being a top deck. Since the banned and restricted announcement a few weeks ago, however, the deck seems to be making a solid comeback and is putting up a decent number of solid results lately. If you're a fan of the Rhinos, maybe it's time to break it out and take this recent classic for a spin once again!
